The son and grandson of brick masons, Terry was the first in his family to graduate from college. He used that education to teach others. An educator in the Madison County public schools for thirty years, Terry built his career by helping children learn and thrive. He understands the critical link between a quality education and a successful local economy.

Terry also understands what teamwork means. During his teaching career, he coached high school and middle school teams in five different sports—football, basketball, baseball, softball, and golf. He remains active in the public education system, currently serving as President of the Retired Educators of Madison County (MCREA).

Terry and his wife, Jenni, a school nurse, have been married for 34 years and have two children, Matt and Rachael, both graduates of the University of Alabama.  They attend Locust Grove Baptist Church.
